My passion for working with thread is still growing. Before i made those large photoworks, drawings, installations but after both of my parents died (last year) , I'm changing. My mother left me a lot of large bags with threads, fabrics, cotton, linen etc. That's where it all started. She gave me those treasures for the common 30 years, I think. It's so nice to grab in those big plastic bags and to feel those fibres! Always curious about what she has kept. She was a tailor's cutter and wanted to learn me those things but I had no patience for it.
Strange isn't it ?
hallo fox friend!

ReplyDeleteWonderful that she left you these treasures and sorry for your loss. A loss that is forever to understand. Take comfort in the threads. I wonder about losing my mother and continuing that thread of art into my childrens lives. Continue on with your wonderful work.
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful gift to leave you, an enquiring mind regarding the possibilities of stitch.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your beautiful words, it gives me a feeling of support!I am moved by these fine words of you all.And indeed Lisa..I think threads give me a bit of comfort..it's like a red thread runs again.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear you lost both your parents last year! And it is amazing how we pick up what they left off even though at the time we didn't seem interested. My mother was a fiber artist and a weaver and I didn't realize I loved the medium until 20 years after she died. Every time I make something with fabric I think wonderful thoughts of her. Thanks for sharing your story.
ReplyDeleteso good that you can use them all now and to think about your mum too. I love the materials you have used in this work, especially the gauze like material.
